The Red Beanbag was originated by Yew Kheong, Ai Peng, Lin Lee and chef Ryan Cheah. The team has since evolved, but our aim remains the same – providing high quality food & beverage coupled with friendly service & an ambiance that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside!
We take pride in what our extraordinary kitchen team produces each day. Head Chef Fhaizal and his team are dedicated to bringing the Western brunch scene in Kuala Lumpur to new heights by doing the simple things really well (like poaching an egg perfectly), whilst injecting some creativity along the way (like serving roti canai with lamb stew)!
We love coffee. Our coffee beans are sourced from the folks at Grand Central Premium Coffee Roasters in Perth, Australia. We have since worked with their master roaster, Luke, to create 2 custom Red Beanbag blends. The first was named ‘The Skywalker’ as a tribute to Luke, and our current blend is called ‘The Kenobi’. The force is strong with both blends. Our head barista, Jason Loo, leads the team with our beloved Red Mean Machine (Nuova Simonelli Aurelia T3). The baker-turned-barista was crowned Malaysia’s Barista Champion in 2013/2014 so you can count on your coffee being in good hands!
The floor is lead by Azman, our restaurant manager who also serves as a father figure to all at RBB. His second-in-command is Big, also known as Groot by some. They combine forces to form the team of waiters that ensures your dining experience at The Red Beanbag is a positive and enjoyable one. Their toughest battle is bracing the breakfast crowd every weekend!
